Fiji Clima / Climate
Fiji weather is typical of the South Pacific Ocean region where the country is located.
Fiji weather is classified as warm tropical with abundant sunshine and warm to hot temperatures throughout the year, both attributes providing the backbone that seals the reputation of this archipelago of about 322 islands (106 permanently inhabited and 522 islets) as one of the most sought after holiday destinations in the world.
Fiji Clima / Climate - Information
Summer in Fiji falls between December and February and coincides with the archipelago’s rainy season.
Although unpredictable in nature and arriving unannounced, Fiji’s rainfalls usually come in the form of short and heavy downpours. The coast and low lying area’s of Fiji’s main islands experience annual amounts of rainfall 2000mm and 3000mm, precipitation levels increasing dramatically in the mountainous areas that can often experience as much as 6000mm per year. As a general rule, the smaller islands tend to receive significantly less amounts to rain, in comparison with the bigger islands. Although cyclones are common in the area and usually put in an appearance between November and April, their ferocity is significantly weakened by the time they reach Fiji.
Other info about Fiji Clima / Climate
Thanks to the influence of the cool trade winds that blow from the east southeast, temperatures in Fiji remain nice and pleasant throughout the year, normally moving within the 31C to 26C bracket.
However, conditions tend to vary between islands; as a general rule, the smaller isles tend to be dry and sunny most of the time.
Fiji weather during the dry, winter season follows similar temperature patterns as the summer, although rainfalls are rather scarce. Between April and October weather in Fiji is at its driest.
If an immediate fix of sunny weather, incredible beaches and azure lagoons is what you are after, then Fiji can provide that – and more – at any time of the year. If you have more time to plan your trip, then it’s advisable to visit between the months of March and November, when Fiji weather is at its absolute finest; conditions are dry and the temperature ranges between 26°C to 30°C.
