Fiji Population



Fiji People are originally dark skinned races of Melanesian origin and they are mainly dominant in the western Islands and comprises of half the population of Fiji.

Eastern Islands on the other hand has a large number of Polynesians and these two races form the main portion of Fiji People. Other small races include the Indians, Chinese, Europeans and Micronesians. The native population of Fiji is the followers of the Christianity.

Fijians still speak a variety of dialects in their villages, but the official form of Fijian, and the version taught in the schools systems is based on the language of Bau, the small island that came to dominate western Fiji during the 19th century.
